Denmark vs. Philippines, 10:00 at the AXA Arena, Winterthur
Denmark are on the winning track in Pool D, after seizing victories over Australia and Poland. The Danish players will for sure enter the match on a high note, inspired by their actions against the team of Poland on the previous day of the tournament. While proving successful in attacking, Denmark could enter the game with heads held high in defence as well, as yesterday’s MVP Mike Trolle will be on the line for honours again. The Philippines, on the other hand, are looking forward to recording their first victory, being the only winless team left in the group.
Estonia vs. Thailand, 10:00 at the Swiss Life Arena, Zürich
Group C current leaders, Estonia are facing the third placed team of Thailand. While Estonia will finish for sure as one of the two top teams in the pool, the match is crucial for Thailand. If they want to save their chances of proceeding ahead, they need a mandatory win that could help them finish second, in case Canada (currently second) don’t do their job right. Pawat Thaidit might very well cause problems to Estonia’s defence, but on the other hand, the northern country relies on their talented forwards, led by players such as Patrik Kareliusson.
Poland vs. Australia, 13:00 at the AXA Arena, Winterthur
The same is the fate for both Poland and Australia. Their last encounter in the group stage is of utmost importance as to who will have the chance to play a quarter-finals playoff. The two teams have one victory and one loss to their names, and practically, the winner of this derby, will secure a top 2 place. Australia will for sure be more than ready, as on Monday, they delivered the ultimate comeback (losing 0-2 to winning 6-2 against the Philippines). This boost of energy and motivation might turn out to be the key to the success, especially if Christian Newland delivers his usual performance. On the other hand, if Kacper Skura and his teammates from Poland find the way back to their game, they sure can disappoint the Aussies.
Canada vs. Singapore, 13:00 at the Swiss Life Arena, Zürich
Canada meet Singapore in what can become a key game at this Worlds for the North Americans. In a very close race with Thailand for the second place in the Group, team Canada shall give their best in the encounter with Singapore (who don’t have a win yet). Team leader, Valtteri Viitakoski must find the right words to help motivating his teammates if they want to save their chances of reaching the second stage of the tournament.
Slovakia vs. Switzerland, 20:00 at the AXA Arena, Winterthur
In the last feature of the day, Slovakia will have to meet the home heroes of Switzerland. After finishing 4:4 against Norway in their opener at the #WFC2022, Switzerland then disappointed Finland. All eyes will be on Michael Schiess as well, who has been performing at his best so far at the competition.
The Slovakian team, on the other hand, won by one goal to Norway in their last match, thanks to an outstanding performance by Michal Dudovic. If Dudovic finds a way to escape the Swiss’ defence, the task on the list to become the second-best team in the group might not look that impossible to reach.
Norway vs. Finland, 20:00 at the Swiss Life Arena, Zürich
Two nordic countries locking horns in the derby of the day in Pool A. Norway couldn’t deliver their game so far in the tournament, currently placed on the fourth position. They will for sure have to pass through a quarter-final playoff in the second stage, but a win over one of the strongest teams at the competition would have a sweet taste to them. The Finnish desperately need the win, as the situation in the group is really tight, and no opportunities should be missed.
