From May 25 to 28, the EUR 2 qualifying tournament will take place in Koceni, Latvia. Seven nations will fight in two groups for the qualification for the WFC 2022 in Switzerland.

For Sweden, as world number one, qualification is a must as group winners against Hungary and France. In the second group, Norway has its sights set on winning the group. As the sixth-ranked team in the world, they are the strongest team in the second group. Also in this group is Liechtenstein. The team from Switzerland’s small neighboring country already wanted to present their new national team jersey in February and now had to wait until May.

Tournament format and World Cup qualification

The WFCQ EUR 2 will be played in two groups. Each team will play against each of the same group. After this phase, each team will play an inter-group placement match.

Group C

  • Sweden
  • Hungary
  • France

Group D

  • Norway
  • Poland
  • Belgium
  • Liechtenstein

Since Russia has been excluded by the IFF from participating in international floorball tournaments and no other team has registered for qualification, Group C will be played with only three teams.

The two group winners qualify directly for the World Cup in Switzerland. In addition, the team that wins the third-place playoff qualifies.
The World Cup qualifying tournaments also serve as a test for the “Future of Floorball playing system”. A maximum of 17 players will be allowed and the games will be played with three thirds of 15 minutes each.

The complete match schedule as well as the live ticker and current standings can be viewed on the IFF tournament page.

All matches will be streamed on the IFF’s Youtube channel.
